This release from Pinhook marks a milestone in the brand’s ambitious “Vertical Series”—an annual journey tracking a single block of bourbon barrels from age 4 through 16 years. The 10-year edition is bottled at 115.9 proof (57.95% ABV) and is crafted from a mashbill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye, and 4.5% malted barley.
Barrels were sourced initially from MGP in Indiana and matured in Kentucky (at Castle & Key Distillery) under the Vertical Series program.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Rich deep copper with amber highlights, showing a decade of oak influence.
- Nose: Burnt orange peel, fresh brioche, butterscotch, clove spice, and a touch of toasted pecan.
- Palate: Full-bodied and warming — salted caramel, candied pecan, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, layered with aged oak and subtle rye spice.
- Finish: Long and resonant; mature oak tannins, leather, dry spice, lingering toffee sweetness.
